Settling Foundation and Slab
Type: Foundation Repair
Year Built: 2001
What was the challenge?: This structure had experienced significant settlement at the back part of the house. The basement slab had settled approximately two inches, the floor joists had also settled, and multiple cracks were observed in the interior finishes.
Additionally, the back yard of this house had a significant upward slope and all of the water from the back yard was directed towards the house. Windows and doors were not operating correctly which had become a life safety issue.
What was the solution?: DL Engineering Inc. recommended grading the property to drain water away from the foundation and preventing it from infiltrating the soil next to the foundation. We also recommended adding supplemental supports to the foundation to minimize future settlement and a combination of helical piers were designed to stabilize the foundation. The repair plan and recommendations were installed by a qualified foundation repair team.
